Project 9: Investigating User Benefits and Risks Associated with IoT use REU Student: Kaley Brindisi Graduate mentor: Karla Badillo-Urquiola Faculty Mentor(s): Dr. Wisniewski Week 6 (June 18 – June 25 2018) Accomplishments: iOS Accomplishments- fully tested all alerts for their accuracy, added total alerts and time using the app at bottom of alert history page (for analysis after user study) Android Accomplishments- fixed null error for drop down menu options, finished persistent bar, fixed alert history (so no duplicate alerts are presented), total alerts are now displayed in top left of persistent bar, alert for battery level was fixed (it used to alert when battery was low, now it only does it when battery is dead), logo was changed for app icon, and the values presented in the dropdown menus for the alert settings were changed & the default choice was set to be the same as iOS Contacted LIFE group at UCF about participating in user study Researched other tele-monitoring projects/ applications that have been developed for comparisons Reviewed user study documents- protocol, consent form, user study script, loan agreement, intake interview questions, exit survey, Carebit cheat sheet for users Problems & Solutions: Not many people agreeing to the user study- need to recruit more people Plans for next week: Recruit more people- look into different places to contact for participants (home health care centers) Finalize application for user study Fix Android data- top 2 values are measuring wrong, get push notifications to work correctly in Android even when not in app Finalize user study documents NSF REU Research Experience on Internet of Things 2018
