Elements of A Narrative CHARACTERIZATION

Sample #2 I asked John, “Do you have the time? I really can’t wait for school to be over.” John replied, “It’s 12:20. Why?” I couldn’t tell John about my plans so I just smiled awkwardly and walked away. In just a few short hours, I would be out there in the woods again… digging away at the secrets that lay buried for me to find.

Putting it together. Dialogue is written in first or third person typically in narratives. Dialogue has it’s own format… so be sure to follow the grammatical rules CAREFULLY. Characters are developed partially by dialogue and by the writer’s description of that character.
