How Much water?

What Do You Know? Location 70 percent of freshwater is locked in ice caps….. Less than 1 percent of the world's freshwater is readily accessible Supply 6 countries (Brazil, Russia, Canada, Indonesia, China and Colombia) have 50 percent of the world's freshwater reserves How much is Freshwater 3% How much is Saltwater  97% How much is DRINKABLE? less than 1%

How much water is that? It's roughly 326 million cubic miles (1.332 billion cubic kilometers), according to a recent study from the U.S. Geological Survey. Some 72 percent of Earth is covered in water, but 97 percent of that is salty ocean water and not suitable for drinking.

- There is the same amount of water on Earth as there was when the Earth was formed. The water from your faucet could contain molecules that dinosaurs drank.

If Earth was the size of a basketball, all of its water would fit into a ping pong ball

The average total home water use for each person in the U. S The average total home water use for each person in the U.S. is about 50 gallons a day.

Water is part of a deeply interconnected system Water is part of a deeply interconnected system. What we pour on the ground ends up in our water, and what we spew into the sky ends up in our water.

75% of the human brain is water and 75% of a living tree is water.

Ways to Conserve H2O Put food coloring in your toilet tank. If it seeps into the toilet bowl without flushing, you have a leak. Fixing it can save up to 1,000 gallons a month. Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street. Avoid recreational water toys that require a constant flow of water. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth and save 25 gallons a month. Drop your tissue in the trash instead of flushing it and save water every time. Wash your car on the lawn, and you'll water your lawn at the same time.
