Unit 3 – Discussing travel plans (pp16-21) Professional Writing

In this lesson you will learn how to… write about travel plans make polite requests about travel plans promise to do something write an itinerary

E-mail structure: writing about definite plans Correct salutation Talk about a definite plan - present continuous - plan to… Polite request Appropriate closing & signature When?

‘will’ + time expression E-mail structure: promising ‘will’ + time expression

E-mail structure: an itinerary Write times on the left No subject - ‘you’ Missed punctuation (no periods) No articles (a, an, the) Some verbs missing (have, give…)

Writing Task 2, p21 An international student is going to arrive at Hanyang ERICA campus next month (you decide the date, and the name of the student). When they arrive, you are going to show them around and make them feel welcome. So: write an email to the student (like the one on page 19) plan and write an itinerary *you have been exchanging emails with the student for a few weeks, so you don’t have to be overly formal. You want to come across as being warm and friendly. Try and use some of your own ideas for the itinerary.
