What are we supporting? Beekeepers! A vulnerable group of women will have the opportunity to earn income that will allow them to provide for their families, thus breaking the cycle of poverty. With disposable income, women will be able to pay for school, books, uniform fees, and more. Direct Impact: 120 Indirect Impact: 1,300

About the Featured Project The Fond des Blancs Female Beekeeping Initiative Train female beekeepers Teaches participants to make beeswax and honey-related products (candles, soaps, lip balm) Provides financial literacy training Offers environmental education Evaluates success at increasing income and environmental awareness

About the Featured Grantee Founded by Sarah Hackett, an American nurse who came to Haiti in 1992 to work in the field of malnutrition Honed the preexisting embroidery skills of local women Started an artisan workshop that now employs 75 women Started a community library Started beekeeping initiative and girls’ soccer program.
