What Works? Residential Composting - the collection and composting of food scraps, yard waste, and other organic materials at the individual or household level Commercial Composting - the collection of allowable food scraps by service providers from commercial food waste generators such as grocers, institutions, restaurants, etc. Food Rescue - the donation and redistribution of edible food to the hungry by hunger relief organizations Source Reduction - the modification of back of house practices or processes within the supply chain to reduce food waste prior to consumption, such as waste audits, ordering habits, prep practices, proper storage techniques, etc.
Strategy Groups – Step One Identify the impact you want to have. What progress do you want to see in 12 months; 24 months? What is the most powerful data to measure that impact? Data Indicator Worksheet
Strategy Groups – Step Two Brainstorm “what works” to move the indicator(s) Prioritize Strategies
Strategy Groups – Step Three Create work plans starting with the highest priority strategy. What is the Education Component? What is the Policy Component? Who else should be in the strategy group? Who will recruit them?
