Clean Power Plan - Community Training December 7-8, 2015 – Farmington, New Mexico December 9-10 – Tuba City, Arizona

Navajo Nation Energy Policy encompasses all natural resources including the opportunity for development of renewable projects located on Navajo Address the Energy needs of the Navajo Nation Navajo recognizes the economic potential of renewable energy Tax Revenue Partnership Provide renewable/clean energy resources to Navajo residents Diversify energy supply and create energy independence

Section 111(d) Clean Power Plan Reduction of carbon emissions Encourages development of Renewable Energy

Navajo Nation - Future Developing a Renewable Energy program Energy Policy Section 10 - Navajo will develop a renewable portfolio of power generating facilities that balances coal, gas, or oil-fired generation with economically viable renewable energy generation from such sources as wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, and biomass Clean Energy Strategic Implementation Plan Currently there are proposed solar projects in the works. These projects: Seeking to mitigate negative economic impacts from reduced capacity of coal-fired generation facilities Loss of revenue Loss of jobs Seeking to strengthen and diversify Navajo economy Possibly create a Navajo owned generation facility to meet Navajo needs
