Principled Arguments Why they are important- more sophisticated case What is a principle- Freedom of expression Why is it important in general- self actualisation

Principled Arguments - Why is important in a particular context e.g. Hate speech -Limits on it, why something doesn’t meet the threshold or Another principle outweighs another one Examples- right to privacy, national sovereignty

Rebuttal Structure How to do rebuttal: Other factors e.g obesity Contradictions Not enough analysis , link is not made, argument is not valid

What to avoid Not finishing points- explain Argue by point not by speaker Don’t try and rebut every single thing Be confident, concise, measured,

Point of Information How to do them... Chance to question a speaker during the speech Not a chance for rebuttal Not a chance to have a conversation with the speaker Be strategic

Debate Craft What is the role of the team.... Has the other team met their onus Has the other team made causal links Listen!!! Point out what they don’t do!
