Teaching and learning about sustainability

ACARA Cross curriculum priorities The Australian Curriculum places emphasis on Sustainability as a priority for study that connects and relates relevant aspects of content across learning areas and subjects. Cross-curriculum learning is fundamental to: understanding the ways social, economic and environmental systems interact to support and maintain human life appreciating and respecting the diversity of views and values that influence sustainable development participating critically and acting creatively in determining more sustainable ways of living. https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/f-10-curriculum/cross-curriculum-priorities/sustainability/ NSW Environmental and Zoo Education Centres

NSW Syllabus Learning across the curriculum Sustainability    Sustainability is concerned with the ongoing capacity of the Earth to maintain all life. It provides authentic contexts for exploring, investigating and understanding systems in the natural and made environments. The Science K–10 (incorporating Science and Technology K–6) Syllabus provides students with opportunities to investigate relationships between systems and system components, to consider how systems respond to change and to develop appreciation for the interconnectedness of the Earth's spheres. Relationships, cycles and cause and effect are explored, and students develop observation and analytical skills to examine these relationships in the world around them to design solutions to identified sustainability problems. http://syllabus.nesa.nsw.edu.au/science/science-k10/learning-across-the-curriculum/ NSW Environmental and Zoo Education Centres
