Presentation transcript:

Retribution (Working Title) Third film idea

Plot The movie revolves around a man named Edward. Edward’s parents were killed when he was just 10 years old. Brutally murdered in front of his eyes, while he hid in a wardrobe. The young man swore to avenge his family and exact vengeance upon the man who was responsible for the murder. This movie will circle around this man trying to find out who it was that killed his parents and what he does with them once he finds them.

Genre The movie will be a revenge movie with elements of the thriller and mystery genre.

Opening Scene The movie will start with a tracking shot in the forest as it leads to a house and goes into the house to a man standing in complete darkness surrounded by bodies. Only a silhouette of the man will be seen and his face will not be visible. This will be accompanied by a voice over from an unknown narrator who will be narrating the events of the story.

Part 2 The camera will move into the man’s back and there will be a flashback to when the main character is a young boy.A family picture is seen on a table which shows the main character’s little brother, father and mother. Where he and is family are having dinner. This scene will have a certain warmth to it, an ominous soundtrack will be played in the background. Suddenly a car’s engine will be heard outside and the young man’s father will go to the window and check who is coming. Then, after checking, he signals his wife to get the kids out of here. The viewers are not shown the car or the people that have come outside. These scenes will involve the use of cut shots. We are shown that the kids are hidden within a wardrobe with a small opening.

Part3 The next scenes will be mostly shown from the kid’s point of view from within the wardrobe and the small opening. We will then hear some conversation which will be distorted, and then a man wearing a green glove holding a gun in front of his father is seen. The mother jumps in trying to save his husband and they both die. In this moment the main character’s younger brother cries for his mother and runs out towards them. We see the main character trying to grab his brother from the back trying to stop him but fails, and a gunshot is heard with a cut shot to a blood stained image of his mother father and little brother.

Possible Part4 While the men responsible for the murder look for the main character in order to kill him too, he makes an escape into the forest and we will see a man after him who shoots at him but misses. The child running will cut to a scene of an older version of him also running. And then the tittle of the movie appears.

Credits The studio logos will be shown before and the opening scene will fade in. As the flashback ends the movie’s title will be shown. Credits will be shown during the tracking shot at the very start.

Representation and Codes The start of the film opening is itself an enigma code as it makes the audience wonder who is the man who’s silhouette is shown, and who are the people lying there dead. The ominous music in the background creates suspense and prepares the audience for tragedy. The family picture is another symbol used as it being blood stained in the end signifies the main characters’ family's’ death. The green glove is another enigma code as it makes the audience wonder who the man is and what his reasons are for murdering a family which appears to be innocent. Why a GREEN glove?
