Forestfireprotection in Poland and Europe

How much fire is dangerous to the forest? Fire, as one of the four elements, seems to be the most destructive and frightening of both humans and animals. But we rarely realize that besides us, living beings, the fire also erodes the forests that it affects with much more effective destruction. One ejected unburnt cigarette can spread the fire in the blink of an eye! Through this banal example we can realize how human recklessness can lead to tragedy.

Factors causing fires in the forest - firing fires, - leaving thick glass bottles on dried grass, - smoking cigarettes, - burning grass in the spring, - ordinary robbers wanting to catch animals, - unlatched matches, - lightning.

Why we should protect the forest from fire? Forests are an "oxygen factory". People and animals live with it in symbiosis -  thanks to the carbon dioxide produced by us, forests can produce oxygen in return. In addition, they protect us from the harmful effects of industry by absorbing some of the pollution. Let us not forget that they are a place of rest for man and a natural habitat for thousands of plant and animal species.

Protective measures undertaken in Europe

Help for Portugal Brussels has launched a crisis center that coordinates the support offered by the Member States. France and Spain were the first countries to help and sent out firefighting planes. Thanks to EU aid Portugal has managed to extinguish three out of eleven fires. Then on request Croatia responded - the crisis center is in contact with all countries. Five firefighters died in the fire and burned over 30,000 hectares of forests there.

Help for Greece Greece has received support through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism to fight forest fires raging in the central part of the country. France reacted to Greece's request for help in a matter of hours - two of its firefighting planes were already operating in threatened areas.
