Puerto Rico Music: We love music like salsa, merengue, and other kinds of music that we have adopted from other neighbor islands. Now we are going to listen some merengue; music style from the Dominican Republic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_k2h7iMkgo

Puerto Rico Food: Our typical plate is “arroz con gandules” (rice with green pigeon peas), pork, especially on a stick, potato salad, pasteles, and flan. Flan tastes kind of like vanilla pudding.

Central América Map of Central América Countries are: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragϋa, Costa Rica and Panamá.

Central America Music - There are many different types of music in Central America. One example is cumbia. Here is an example of cumbia. http://www.wat.tv/video/cumbia- 4lond_4j4dt_.html

Central America Food: Food and drink in Central America is representative of the diversity of its residents. Spanish, Creole, Garifuna and Indigenous cuisines all influence modern Central American food. Gallo pinto and pupusas are just some of the many examples. Coffee is also very important.

Mexico Flag: The Spaniards brought the Spanish language to Mexico. Many people in Mexico speak languages that sound nothing like Spanish.

Mexico Music: Mexican traditional folk music can be classified in two aspects: By types of musical forms and styles: corrido, canción Ranchera, Mexican Danzón, or Mexican Bolero By types of ensembles: banda, conjunto calentano, mariachi, and marimba. Here is an example of a Mexican dance: http://www.wat.tv/video/dance-mexicaine- 3z12b_3z0y3_.html

Mexico Food: Mexican cuisine is a style of food which is primarily a fusion of indigenous Mesoamerican cooking with European. The basic staples are the beans and chili peppers. Tamales are a traditional Mesoamerican dish made of masa (a starchy dough, usually corn- based), which is cooked in a leaf wrapper.

Information about the Islands Philippines Philippines’ Flag Information about the Islands The Philippine Islands became a Spanish colony during the 16th century; they were ceded to the US in 1898 following the Spanish- American War. In 1935 the Philippines became a self-governing commonwealth. Manuel QUEZON was elected president and was tasked with preparing the country for independence after a 10-year transition. In 1942 the islands fell under Japanese occupation during World War II, and US forces and Filipinos fought together during 1944-45 to regain control. On 4 July 1946 the Republic of the Philippines attained its independence.
