Digital Commons Furniture Proposals for Single, Dual, Group, and Collaborative Arrangements in the ULM Library
We would recommend dismantling the current Reference Desk and moving that service to the Circulation Desk, creating a single service point for Library Public Services. This would give the Computer Lab more space. Existing lounge furniture near the POD could remain as is, since it is appropriate for the space and in good shape. This floor could be a mix of single-pod and duo-pod (seen below) arrangements, or even some of the group-friendly pod arrangements from the first floor. We could also have some of the booth set-ups freestanding out on the floor as well in place of some of the pods. Retain existing casual seating for individuals waiting to enter classrooms. The booths we propose are similar to this – they offer seating and a workspace with technology-enabling hook-ups and power. An arrangement like this could be installed along existing walls in the Library where power already exists or could easily be dropped from the ceiling.
