Mark Master Degree

Brother ___________, on your first entrance into a Lodge of Mark Masters you were received upon the edge of an engraver’s chisel and under the pressure of a mallet. The chisel morally demonstrates the advantage of discipline and education. The mallet morally teaches us to correct irregularities, and be more content by curbing our passions, ambitions, anger and envy of others. Is this not how God would have us appear outside of the Lodge? 11/17/2018

To the Mark Master the Keystone found in the rubbish is nothing less than a representation of his life, a rough stone in the beginning, but when it has been polished, squared and numbered will become a more perfect ashlar. So is each life in the beginning, but work done upon the stone soon presents to view its latent virtues and it becomes a perfect stone, ready for its place in the finished building. 11/17/2018

Honesty Integrity Labor The Mark Master Degree teaches us honesty and integrity, and upholds the dignity of labor. From it we learn the laborer is worthy of his hire and entitled to receive an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s labor, and that an honest day’s labor is forthcoming before the laborer shall receive his wages. 11/17/2018
