Coverage of MDG indicators in PRSPs

How ambitious are the PRSPs?

Realism: PRSP targets vs. historical trends

Summary High alignment of MDGs and PRSP monitoring indicators in education, health, poverty headcount and gender equality at school. PRSP targets are often more ambitious than historic trends, except for gender and PCR targets. Some set very ambitious targets (more than 5% points). Except for a few countries, the continuous monitoring of the PRSP indicators through PRSP Progress Reports is weak. Some countries change indicators, others do not provide updates. One of the reasons is the selection of the indicators that are not monitorable on an annual basis.
