Presentation transcript:

Assignment Use your first and last name to create a symmetrical name plate.

Step 1 Fold your paper long-ways, crease the paper fold and unfold the paper.

Step 2 Write or print first and last name on top half of paper. Each letter must touch the top of the paper as well as the fold in the center of the paper.

Step 3 Go over the letters with a dark crayon.

Step 4 Fold the paper. You can see the lettering through the paper. Keeping the paper folded, trace the letters with a pencil. This will transfer the crayon outline onto the opposite side of the fold.

Step 5 Unfold the paper. The top half of your paper will have your name that you wrote. The bottom half of your paper will have a reversed (symmetrical) image of your name.

Step 6 Use crayons (bear hard) to color the letters (the positive space) and to color the space surrounding the letters (background or negative space).

Step 7 When coloring is complete, your should have a waxy surface of crayon. Use a small piece of paper towel to polish and shine your name plate.

You will be graded on the following criteria Lettering large/readable 40 pts. Lettering symmetrical top/bottom 40 pts. Craftsmanship (time, effort, neatness) 15 pts. Polished surface 5 pts.
