Making a website for teenagers about Flood Risk Management Sandra Junier Delft University of Technology

Objectives Make scientific knowledge from Floodsite available to secondary school children In all of Europe Using the Floodsite approach to FRM

First ideas Website In English and a translation into Dutch Lots of pictures and preferably animations and some games Using the guidance for professionals as basic material for content

First steps The audience Questionnaires, focus group discussion with secondary school students Interviews with some teachers

What did I find out ? Among students there seems to be little knowledge about water related issues Nearly all said the flood risk was too small to think about The students were interested in their own situation mostly

What did I find out? 2 Teachers were interested in the subject They wanted ready-made lessons fitting the curriculum In Dutch

What about form and content? website, things to do, things to know colour and illustrations quizzes and games Content wide range of subjects
