World War One Four year project to mark the centenary of WW1 Taking place in four schools in Perry Barr district of Birmingham Children have developed their lyrics and own musical ideas in response to a range of different themes, including WW1 artefacts and paintings Composer, Kerry Andrew, has developed these ideas to write one movement for each year of the project: The Mud and the Sky (2014-15) In This Dangerous Place (2015-16) Wires (2016-17) Afterwords (2017-18) The full work will be premièred at Symphony Hall on Wednesday 27 June 2018.

Project Remix Fuses well-known chart hits with orchestral arrangements. Range of themes over the years, including Birmingham on Broadway, Local Heroes and, most recently, ‘Music Inspired by David Bowie’, which saw the orchestra perform modern classics by artists such as Madonna, Lady Gaga and Prince. Open to instrumentalists and vocalists aged 12-18 from across the West Midlands of grade 5 standard and above

Youth Orchestra The CBSO Youth Orchestra is the successor to the Midland Youth Orchestra, founded in 1956 by CBSO General Manager Blyth Major and for nearly half a century one of the UK's leading independent youth orchestras. Open to all Midlands young musicians aged 13 (in year 9) to 21 of grade 8 standard and above Unmatched opportunity to be part of an internationally renowned orchestral organisation Challenging music in prestigious venues with professional soloists and conductors, including Debussy’s Images with Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, Mahler Symphony No. 6 with Jac Van Steen and Bartók’s The Wooden Prince Cristian Măcelaru.
