Phosphorus and potassium should be applied very close to the plants, as they don’t travel well. Dry soil also inhibits nutrient uptake. V12-V13: Moisture & nutrient deficiencies seriously reduce number of seeds and ear size. Care must be taken not to cultivate too close to plants to avoid root damage. V14-V15: Most critical time for yield! Number of kernels mainly determined here.
