ACT Testing Dates for 2017-2018 Tues., October 17 Tues., December 12 Pre-ACT for 10th Graders (Similar to PSAT) ACT Diagnostic Practice Test #1 for all 11th graders Tues., December 12 ACT Diagnostic Practice Test #2 for all 11th graders Tues., February 27 FREE ACT Test given to all 11th graders at NCHS from 8 am – approx. 12:45 pm; test will be administered via pencil and paper this year. Imperative that your child attend school on this date. Beginning course details and/or books/materials needed for a class/project.

Another FREE Opportunity to take the ACT . . . November – January: Sign up for a second FREE ACT This year’s Juniors may sign up for an EXTRA free ACT test before the school-wide exam on Feb. 27. This will give students extra practice and give them the best chance to do well in February. ACT FORMAT THE ACT HAS FIVE PARTS THAT FOLLOW THIS ORDER EVERY YEAR: ENGLISH (75 questions in 45 minutes) MATH (60 questions in 60 minutes) READING (40 questions in 35 minutes) SCIENCE (40 questions in 35 minutes) WRITING (1 essay in 40 min.; optional, but it does demonstrate to colleges / universities how well students can write) The highest total composite score a student can earn after taking the entire ACT is a 36. New Information from NC Community Colleges: Applicable to 2019 graduates (current 11th grade class): Students will be assigned to remediation English and Math courses during their senior year if they do not score: 22 composite score on the Math portion of the test OR an unweighted GPA of 2.70 18 composite score on the English portion of the test OR an unweighted GPA of 2.70 22 composite score on the Reading portion of the test OR an unweighted GPA of 2.70 Beginning course details and/or books/materials needed for a class/project.
