Validity and Reliability Conceptual Framework Second Language Acquisition Sociocultural Epistemology Standards-based Instruction Technology Integration Constructivist Pedagogy Mixed Methods Research The juxtaposition of two “mental models”—qualitative and quantitative research Research Goals To gain an understanding of: The current differences of technology integration in FL/WL instruction in a standards-based curriculum The effect of the ACTFL Video Podcast Contest on participating teachers’ understanding of the role of technology in a standards-based curriculum Research Questions How are these FL/WL teachers integrating technology into their instructional practices? (types of technology and purposes of use) Is there a difference between groups based on number of years teaching? Is there a difference between groups based on language taught? To what extent do FL/WL teachers use of technology reflect the SFLLs? b. Is there a difference between groups based on language taught? How has their participation in the contest affected their use of technology in their instructional practices? Validity and Reliability What are my assumptions about what is going on with these teachers? How might I be wrong?
