Things to consider evacuate if you feel unsafe Put on all needed protection – shoes, warm clothes, gloves, etc. Extinguish fires Turn off gas if you smell it Turn off water if you see it If you don’t have water, fill up containers with water from tap Grab a flashlight Deliver first aid Put “OK” or “Need Help” sign in front window If able, inform loved ones of your status Step 2 Your Block Initial response Step 3 Your Block Longer term Go to the neighborhood gathering site Organize into teams (minimum of 2 on a team) Leadership/Communications establish base, id Incident Commander (ICC), communications lead (L) and recorder (R) ICC - assign resources, manage base and overall communications with neighbors, recorder and first responders R - consolidate updates from teams C – report updates to Area Command Post continue managing base, consolidating on-going updates and managing communications Safety, Wellness and Resources continue safety, fire, gas, water patrols on an hourly basis once the neighborhood has been stabilized, gather shared resources > medical supplies > food/water > flashlights > camping gear, etc. bring resources to First Aid area continue providing updates to Communications Safety check homes and assist neighbors who need help with gas, water, fires, etc. document findings, update Recorder Wellness check on neighbors’ welfare document findings, update Recorder First Aid and Distribution First Aid manage food, water and shelter needs and distribution continue providing updates to Recorder set up triage area aid injured document injuries, update Recorder
