Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies Celebrating American History From 1607 to 1877

Expectations All students will earn at least a Level 2 performance on the April 25 STAAR and 25 percent will achieve a Level 3 performance. Follow Five Rules of Conduct: 1. Be Prepared 2. Treat everyone and everything with respect. 3. Abide by Class Contract 4. Ask for help early! 5. Do your work.

Bell Ringers 5 words per week 100 points per week 10 percent of spiral grade

Spiral All class work. 1 of 3-4 test grades. Needs signature every six weeks.

Vocabulary Vocabulary hw assigned Monday, due Friday. Quiz every Friday Make ups on webpage

Tests and Projects STAAR District Assessments in STAAR format over material taught in class DBQs Culminating Project every unit with prizes. T-shirt Brochures Newspaper/Parade Floats Illustrated Maps Illustrated Venn diagrams

Tutoring STAAR: Thursdays after school by arrangement only. Homework Help: Every other Thursday beginning 9-27-2012. Open to all students. ZAP/After School Detention: Mondays and Wednesdays assigned by teacher for students who haven’t completed assigned work.
