Individual Assessment Prepare a well-written essay that answers the questions – How did the way people live in Europe change in the period before the opening of the Atlantic? How did the changes effect Europe? Do you think these changes will influence Europeans to travel? Why or why not? What criteria do you think should be used to evaluate your essay?

Solutions (Changes in Europe) Greeks and Romans influenced later civilizations in many areas including architecture and government. Feudalism emerged as a system of government and promoted separation. The Crusades began and promoted trading between Europe and Asia. Travel became safer, promoting trade routes like the Silk Road. Increased trade had positive and negative effects. Ex: Black Death killed an estimated 25 million people. The Renaissance brought new ways of thinking to Europe. Mercantilism emerged as the economic system in Europe.
