The Women Come To the Tomb Mark 16:1-8

The Women at the Tomb WHY DID these women COME to the tomb? They brought spices to ANOINT Jesus’ BODY for BURIAL [Mark 16:1-2; Luke 23:56; 24:1].

The Women’s QUESTION – Mark 16:3 And they were saying to one another, “WHO WILL ROLL AWAY the STONE for us from the entrance of the tomb?” DO YOU NEED “the stone” ROLLED AWAY from the ENTRANCE of YOUR HEART?

An Angel INSTRUCTS the Women – Mark 16:4-8 [4] And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, although it was extremely large. [5] And ENTERING the TOMB, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and THEY WERE AMAZED (with terror).

HE HAS RISEN; HE IS NOT HERE; [6] And he said to them, “DO NOT BE AMAZED (with terror); you ARE LOOKING FOR Jesus the Nazarene, WHO HAS BEEN CRUCIFIED. HE HAS RISEN; HE IS NOT HERE; BEHOLD, here is the place where they laid Him.

[7] “BUT GO, TELL His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He said to you.’” [8] And they went out and FLED from the tomb, for TREMBLING and ASTONISHMENT had GRIPPED them; and they SAID NOTHING to anyone, for THEY WERE AFRAID. Witnesses DISBELIEVED by the Disciples Mark 16:9-13

The Witness of Mary Magdalene – Mark 16:9-11 [9] Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week, He FIRST APPEARED to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons. The Witness of the Emmaus Road Disciples – Mark 16:12-13; Luke 24:13-35 [12] And AFTER THAT, HE APPEARED in a different form to two of them, while they were walking along on their way to the country. [13] And THEY WENT AWAY and REPORTED IT to the others, BUT they BUT they DID NOT BELIEVE them either.

Jesus APPEARS to the Eleven Mark 16:14

[14] And afterward HE APPEARED to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and HE REPROACHED THEM for their UNBELIEF and HARDNESS of HEART, BECAUSE they HAD NOT BELIEVED those who had seen Him AFTER HE HAD RISEN.

The Two Resurrections John 5:24-29

The FIRST Resurrection – John 5:24-25 [24] “Truly, truly, I say to you, HE WHO HEARS MY WORD, and BELIEVES HIM Who sent Me, HAS ETERNAL LIFE, and DOES NOT come into JUDGMENT, BUT has passed out of DEATH INTO LIFE.”

SHALL HEAR the VOICE of the Son of God; [25] “Truly, truly, I say to you, an HOUR IS COMING AND NOW IS, when the DEAD SHALL HEAR the VOICE of the Son of God; and THOSE WHO HEAR SHALL LIVE.” (spiritually)

The TRANSITION to the Second Resurrection – John 5:26-27 [26] “FOR JUST AS the Father HAS LIFE IN HIMSELF, EVEN SO He GAVE to the Son ALSO TO HAVE LIFE IN HIMSELF; [27] and He gave Him AUTHORITY to EXECUTE JUDGMENT, because He is the Son of Man.”

The SECOND Resurrection – John 5:28-29 [28] “DO NOT MARVEL AT THIS; FOR an HOUR IS COMING, IN WHICH ALL WHO are in the TOMBS shall HEAR His VOICE, [29] and SHALL COME FORTH;…”

THOSE WHO DID the GOOD DEEDS to A RESURRECTION of LIFE, [29] “… SHALL COME FORTH; THOSE WHO DID the GOOD DEEDS to A RESURRECTION of LIFE, THOSE WHO COMMITTED the EVIL DEEDS to A RESURRECTION of JUDGMENT.
