Examine the crime scene. Make one inference on your sticky note.

I can compose an argument using evidence to support my claim. Collect your evidence! What is an inference? a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning. In other words, to make an inference, you must read between the lines! The more evidence, the better your argument! I can compose an argument using evidence to support my claim.

I can compose an argument using evidence to support my claim. What do you think happened at Blue Mountain Lodge? Use evidence to explain your thinking. Argument Claim Evidence an attempt to persuade or convince someone on a topic open to debate a short statement, usually one sentence, that summarizes the main point or claim of an essay, research paper, etc., and is developed, supported, and explained in the text by means of examples and evidence. facts, details, examples, etc. that support the writer's reasoning I can compose an argument using evidence to support my claim.

I can compose an argument using evidence to support my claim. Lillian Scott and David Schaffer were planning to run off together. Only a few people in the town knew about it. Lillian knew that David had access to the towns people’s safes and also knew that Mrs. Peabody kept a valuable safe at the Blue Mountain Lodge, because she was the town gossip. Lillian convinced David to murder Mrs. Peabody and then steal the money and jewels from the safe. David Schaffer killed Mrs. Peabody with a pair of Lillian’s hair cutting scissors around 9:00 p.m. on the night of August 21st and then opened the safe and stole the valuables inside. Lillian and David also planned to leave the country to Costa Rica, with the money and jewels they had stolen. Did our class foil their plan and now will they sit in jail to pay the time for their crime? Good work detectives! I can compose an argument using evidence to support my claim.

Before you go… Answer these questions based on your needs How did you use inferences to solve the case? How can making inferences help you improve your argumentative writing? What do you still have questions about after today’s lesson? Answer these questions based on your needs and understanding of using claims and evidence to make an argument. I can compose an argument using evidence to support my claim.
