Year in Review: Annual Report July 2016 – June 2017

Year in Review: Annual Report, 2017 Under the presidency of Ned Schaut, and the board of directors listed below, which was sworn in by Senator Ted Gaines on July 20th, 2016, the Sacramento Association of Health Underwriters (“SAHU”), which is a local chapter of our state association (CAHU), and national headquarters in Washington, DC, (NAHU), was an active and award winning chapter. These objectives are all driven by one common purpose – to be a valuable resource and place of camaraderie for our members. The ever-improving results this has generated for SAHU the last several years reinforces our efforts and commitment to growing and engaging our membership base. We look forward to another record-breaking year under new President Helen Ornellas and her team, and will report back again this time in 2018.

Year in Review: Annual Report, 2017 SPECIAL EVENTS Sent 4 members to NAHU Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida in June 2017, where several additional members were in attendance. Sent 2 members to CAHU Health Summit in Universal City, in September, 2016, where several additional members were in attendance. Sent 2 board members to NAHU Region 8 Leadership Training in Orange County in August 2016. Annual Crab Feed, February, 2017. Annual Golf Tournament at The Ridge, May 2017. Annual Awards Mixer, September, 2016. Annual Business Development Expo, June 2017 Coffee Chat after Washington D.C. trip, March 2017 Hosted an all day local Leadership Training sessions for 2015-16 board of directors. MEDIA & PUBLIC RELATIONS Another dynamic media campaign with several hits in print (including interviews and quotes.) Our followers on social media continue to expand, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Year in Review: Annual Report, 2017 LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS NAHU Capitol Conference in Washington, DC (Feb, 2017) 11 SAHU Members attended 7 Legislator Meetings CAHU Capitol Summit in Sacramento (May, 2017) 9 Member Meeting Team 13 Legislator Meetings POLITICAL ACTION In addition to individual member donations throughout the year, SAHU donated both to HUPAC (national) and CAHU PAC (state) in the amounts of $1,510 and $5,000.

Year in Review: Annual Report, 2017 COMMUNITY SERVICE Toy Drive for River Oak Center for Children, we raised $500. Food Drive for Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, one hundred pounds of food was donated. PROGRAMMING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Annual Awards Mixer in September 2016. Annual Crab Feed in February 2017. Ethics CE presentation including 3 credit hours in June 2017. Annual Golf Tournament in May 2017. Second Annual Business Development Expo in June 2017. Monthly breakfast/lunch meetings with a variety of guest speakers.

Year in Review: Annual Report, 2017 CONTACT US ADMINISTRATIVE ACHIEVEMENTS Annual Member Needs Survey sent in March, 2017 with roughly a 25% response rate. Published Weekly Bulletins and a midweek Special Events Alert, along with as needed unscheduled notifications. SAHU saw an increase in new companies participating in the SAHU Partnership Program. SAHU is proud to have a balanced budget, no debt, and a healthy reserve! SAHU worked very hard to increase the membership! SAHU had 49 new members during this term! CONTACT US SAHU P.O.
