Jesus presented in the temple –Luke 2:25-35 Simeon’s blessing to Joseph and Mary … This child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel … “Fall” – lit. our downfall; “rise” – lit. a raising up. (Romans 6:3-4) 1 Peter 2:4-9; 2 Corinthians 2:16; 1 Corinthians 1:23 … and a sign to be opposed … - Matthew 10:35ff; Luke 13:22ff … a sword will pierce even your own soul … … thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.

Jesus presented in the temple Anna’s blessing to Joseph and Mary… A prophetess “advanced in years …” married for just 7 years. Lived as a widow since – either a widow for 84 years or her life had been 84 years – either way, a long time. “Never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.” (verse 37) – serving God was an everyday thing. She arrived while Simeon spoke to Mary. She thanked God and “continued to speak of Him to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.” Will we continue to speak?
