Introduction & Objectives How to use this poster template… Simply highlight this text and replace it by typing in your own text, or copy and paste your text from a MS Word document or a PowerPoint slide presentation. The sub-title text boxes can be moved up or down depending on how big or small your ‘Introduction’, ‘Objectives/Aim’, ‘Materials and Methods’, ‘Results’ and ‘Conclusions’ are. The body text / font size is up to you but should be between 12 and 18 points, preferably at least 16 points. Arial, Helvetica or equivalent can be used. Keep body text left-aligned, do not right justify text. The colour of the text, title and poster background can be changed to the colour of your choice, but white on black or black on white is the most successful on large screens and darker rooms. You are allowed a maximum of 7 slides: a title slide, 5 other slides and a reference/acknowledgement slide. You will not need to show the reference slide during your oral presentation. Remember you have less than 5 minutes to speak.

Materials and Methods Tips for making a successful poster… Re-write your paper into poster format ie. Simplify everything, avoid data overkill. Headings of more than 6 words should be in upper and lower case, not all capitals. Never do whole sentences in capitals or underline to stress your point, use bold characters instead. When laying out your poster leave ample spaces around your text. Don’t overcrowd your poster. Try using photographs or coloured graphs. Avoid long numerical tables. Spell check and get someone else to proof-read your finished version.

Results The titles and slide sequence are only suggestions, and a guide only. Please alter these in accordance with your presentation. This format however works best in a poster session presentation. Feel free to colour scheme the poster any way you choose. Don’t use too many varying fonts. Stick to one or two fonts only. More than this and it looks too busy and confusing to the eye. Feel free to look at other digitalposters that have been delivered at other events. The link is located on the Presenter Info page where you downloaded this template. Conclusions Use this space to document your conclusions Don’t forget to use smaller text boxes under images and artwork to caption and reference the intention of you including this image. Hyperlink and include digital references where necessary. Delegates may choose, if you allow them to, to download your poster. If connected to the internet the links will take them to these pages. The layout is only a guide. You may choose to add more or less image/text boxes and move them about as required. Creativity is encouraged.
