Synagogues In the time of Jesus

In the time of Jesus synagogues were found in larger towns and some smaller villages.

The synagogue was a place where: people prayed and worshipped Went to school and learnt Joined together for social events and town meetings

Outside each synagogue was a mikveh The mikveh was a special bath which Jewish people would bathe in. This was so they would be clean but also ready for prayer.
