MyWritingLabPlus for Economics

What is MyWritingLabPlus? MyWritingLabPlus is an online program designed to help you with writing and grammar necessary for persuasive, logical, and effective writing. You can work on the program from any computer with internet access. You will have access as long as you are currently enrolled as a student. MyWritingLabPlus is used in a variety of courses at CSUB, ranging from English to Business to Chemistry. The online program allows you to work on grammar, mechanics, writing, and research skills. MyWritingLabPlus supports different learning styles as well, utilizing audio files, videos, and interactive exercises. You also have access to Pearson Tutor Services, an online tutoring service that lets students submit their papers (up to 15 pages long) in any subject area and provides personalized feedback from a person with a Master’s or PhD in that subject area. Forgot your password Your username is your 9-digit CSUB ID # If you don’t see an email after a few hours, try resetting your password again. If you do not receive an email, please contact the CSUB IT Helpdesk (654-2307) You will then need to check your CSUB Outlook email

Check your outlook To reset your password, click Reset password You may have to check your Junk Email or Clutter folder

Changing password If you have difficulties resetting your password, please contact the MWLP Headquarters at mwlp@csub.edu or 654-2823 Enter your new password and click continue! You can now sign in to the MyWritingLabPlus website with your new password

Mastering a topic This is an example of a topic you will need to complete. These are the five activities you must complete to master each topic.

How to Master a Topic The overview is a short description of the topic The animation is a short video on the topic *You must watch the entire animation to get credit for the activity

How to Master a Topic Recall 1 and 2 consist of 10 multiple choice questions about the topic. Be sure to click “Submit Activity” after you have completed any exercise.

How to Master a Topic The Apply consists of revising a paragraph using the knowledge you have learned. You may also save your progress for later and pick up where you left off. Again, be sure to submit your attempt.

How to Master a Topic Hints are available if you get stuck. Taking a hint will cost you a one point deduction from your total score. Be sure to read the directions carefully! By clicking on a word the check mark and the cross will appear to verify if you have selected correctly.

Unlocks You will be given two attempts to achieve 80% or higher on each activity. If you do not reach an 80% in two tries, the activity will need to be unlocked. Unlocks will be done on request by calling, emailing, or stopping by the MyWritingLabPlus Headquarters in Classroom Building 100. You can also fill out an online unlock form on the following link: http://www.csub.edu/mwl/unlock.html If you request to be unlocked by email, please make sure to give us your name, title of the topic and activity that needs to be unlocked, and the section number of your class. Once the topic is unlocked, you can try it again.

Resources Each term you are a student at CSUB, you will have access to MyWritingLabPlus, as well as these extra resources you may find helpful Pearson Writer Pearson Writer is a revolutionary digital tool for writers at all levels. You can access it via the MWLP website or your mobile device. Pearson Writer offers a writing guide, research database, citation generator, task manager, and an automatic writing review. Pearson Tutor Services Pearson Tutor Services is a resource in MWLP that allows you to submit papers on any subject and receive feedback from a person with a Master’s or PhD in that subject. MWLP Headquarters Our Hours We have a MyWritingLabPlus Headquarters on campus if you ever need any help in person regarding the program. We are located in Classroom Building 100. You are also welcome to use our computers any time during the day while we are open.
