GUZZLER IN THE SNOW PowerPoint 8 introduces the idea of cold temperature. Questions to promote discussion Where is Guzzler? What can you see in the picture? How do you think Guzzler feels? How can you tell from the picture that Guzzler is cold? Why is he cold? Why does Guzzler have his hands in his pockets? What is Guzzler wearing? Why is he wearing these clothes? What sounds does he hear? What food did Guzzler bring for the birds? Why did he bring the seeds? How will this help the birds?

Help Guzzler to select some clothes that will keep him warm in the snow. Decide which clothes should be put into the snow scene container. Questions to promote discussion Why do we need to wear a warm hat in the snow? What fabrics are winter hats made from? Why? Name a fabric that would not be used in a winter hat. Why should we wear gloves in the snow? What kind of footwear do we need in the snow? Why? Allow for debate on sunglasses – they won’t keep you warm but are used in snow to protect your eyes from glare.
