Alignment Horizontal position of text Left, right, center, justify Examples: Left Right Center Justify: text lines up on both the left and the right side so that the paragraph is even.

Bullets/Numbering Arranges items in a list Each item begins with a bullet or number Example: Bullet List Number
Cut Removes text from the screen
Copy Makes a copy of the selected text
Paste Places text in the desired location Text must be Cut or Copied first
Font Size Determines the height of characters in unites called points
Font Style Type of character format that determines the look or artistic style of the character Examples: Bold, italics, underline, small caps
Font Type Design and appearance of printed characters Examples: Serif, Sans Serif, Cursive
Footers Text such as title, page numbers and dates printed at the BOTTOM of a page Example: Your name Unit 2: Vocabulary 2.24.09

Indentations To move one or more lines inward from the margins Example: This text is indented in from the rest of the text.
Insertion Mode Input mode Existing text moves to the right as new text is added Insert key turns on/off
Italics Text that slants to the right Example: Italics Not Italics
Landscape Orientation Page orientation Data prints across the wider portion of the page Landscape
Line Spacing Vertical distance between two lines Example: Single Space: There is no space between lines. Double Space: There is the one blank like between each line.
Margins Blank spaces between the edge of the paper and the printed text
Page Numbering Method of arranging pages in numerical order. Example:
Portrait Orientation Page orientation Data prints across the narrower portion of the page Portrait
Print To make a hard copy of document
Reveal/Show Codes Shows non-printing or formatting characters
Spell Check Check spelling of a document Always spell check before turning in.
Tab Settings Allow you to line up text at a certain point Set Tabs Turn Ruler On
Typeover Mode Replaces existing text with new text as it is keyed.
Underline A feature that underlines text as it is keyed Example: No Underline Underline
