Lesson 1- What’s Salvation all about? (Part 1)
You turn 180º and go a completely different direction Repentance- changing one’s mind and actions You turn 180º and go a completely different direction
Faith- complete reliance upon someone or something Faith, belief, trust
You’re dead in sin, but God brings you to life Regeneration- new and divine life given by God to those who believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ You’re dead in sin, but God brings you to life
God saves you from punishment and brokenness Salvation- deliverance from sin’s penalty and power God saves you from punishment and brokenness
Condemnation- guilt and punishment for a crime committed
Just like a substitute teacher Jesus was a substitute for us. Substitute- someone who stands in the place of another Just like a substitute teacher Jesus was a substitute for us.
Lesson 2- What’s Salvation all about? (Part 2)
It means you’re getting it completely right! Righteousness-conformity to God’s holy standard It means you’re getting it completely right!
Remission- the act by which something is laid aside or put away When cancer treatment is successful, we say, “the cancer is in remission.”
Justification- the act of being declared righteous When you justify something, you give a reason for why it’s okay. When God died for us, it gave us a reason to be declared okay.
You are taken out of prison because the payment is made Redemption- set free by the payment of ransom You are taken out of prison because the payment is made
Forgiveness- having one’s sins cleansed and fellowship with God (or others) restored No forgiveness, No relationship
Reconciliation- restoration to friendship or harmony Friends again!
Imputation- giving the benefits or penalties of one’s actions to another Touch it, get powers!
