Making a Ruler Step 1 - Find the scale on the Map Step 2 – Take the edge of a sheet of paper and hold it up to the scale. Step 3 – Starting at zero, draw lines on the paper that match the lines on the scale. Step 4 – When you get to the end, slide your paper so your last line is at the zero. Step 5 – Repeat steps 2 to 4 until you have a ruler that is the size you need.

Measuring Using Stars From Exit 88 to Exit 79 = 9 km 9 km + 13 km + 8 km + 7 km = 37 km
