MAJOR ORGAN SYSTEMS IN THE HUMAN BODY
Presentation transcript:

Body systems introduction The human body is made up of many parts organised into systems. These systems work together to make the body function effectively Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Circulatory system This involves the heart, many miles of blood vessels and litres of blood It carries blood around the body Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Endocrine system This involves a series of glands and other organs They produce hormones and other chemicals that help control the body systems Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Skeletal system This gives us structure to allow movement It also protects some of our internal organs It also supports all our internal organs Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Nervous system This is made up of the brain, spinal cord and nerves The brain is the control centre for the body The nerves are the bodies electrical communication system Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Digestive system The body needs food to survive The digestive system takes the large food molecules and breaks them down so they can be absorbed into the blood Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Respiratory system This makes sure oxygen from the air reaches the blood It also removes carbon dioxide from the blood to the air Every cell needs oxygen to live Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Urinary system This removes excess water from the blood to maintain the bodies fluid balance It has many more important jobs too Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Immune system This helps protect the body from infections and diseases. A wide variety of cells are produced to do this including white blood cells Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Muscular system This enables the body to move many of its parts It also enables the heart to beat and the intestines to move food along during digestion Body systems introduction

Body systems introduction Sensory system This enables the body to get lots of outside information and send it to the brain It also includes our most used means of communicating with others Body systems introduction

Research and presentation assignment on a body system You will now be asked to complete a research assignment one of the systems and present it to the class. The systems research cards will be given out by the class teacher. The research guidelines will be explained by the class teacher. The deadlines will be explained by the class teacher.
