General Procedures Arrive Early, Obtain Schedule of Events, Any Conflicts and Have Rule Book Knowledgeable of Rules, Possible Records, Coaches Box & Athletes Seating Be Aware of Special Protocols, Emergency Plans and Medical Procedures Plan Ahead and Write It Down – What Could Go Wrong and Options Meet With Appropriate Officials Regarding Event Procedures Or Concerns Know Call Room/Paperwork Flow, Check Results and Results Procedures How Officials Can Communicate If Necessary and Other Contact Info Observed The Field Events and Be Available As Much As You Can If Event Is Running Smoothly – Don’t Interfere

Throws Inspect The Sectors, Markers If Used and Additional Flagging For Danger Zone Inspect Cage, Circle, Stop Board, Runway, etc. Regarding Any Issues Knowledge of Implements Being Used, Common Implements, Impoundments Inspection and Check-Out Procedures, Markings Being Used On Implements Delivery of Implements For Warm-Ups and Retrieving Implement Procedures Measurement Procedures Including Back-Up and Back-Up Recording Supplies and Equipment Needs – Clock, Towels, Mats, Flags, Tape, Chalk, etc. AND

Vertical Jumps Time to Determine Location or Direction of HJ and PV Due To Wind Inspect Standards, Cross Bars, Runways, PV/HJ Pits/Mats, Cover & Taping Have Multiple Cross Bars Available If Possible and Wind Sock Other Events That Could Affect Verticals and Removal of Curbing For HJ Check Sheets For Starting Heights and Progressions, Delivery of Poles Measurement Procedures Including Back-Up and Back-Up Recording Marshalls or Volunteers Available To Assist Supplies and Equipment Needs – Clock, Towels, Flags, Tape, Chalk, etc.

Horizontals Time to Determine Location or Direction of LJ/TJ Due To Wind Inspect Standards, Runways, LJ/TJ Pits and If Water Is Needed For Pits Location Of Hose If More Water Needed or Options Available Set Up For Wind Gauge(s) and Wind Sock (Back-up Wind Gauge or Batteries) Extra Boards If Possible and Plasticine Boards If Being Used Measurement Procedures Including Back-Up and Back-Up Recording Supplies/Equipment Needs – Clock, Helper, Rakes, Brooms, Flags, Tape, etc.
