DEFINING THE PROBLEM INEFFICIENT DETAILING SLOW ANNOTATION PROCESS INCONSISTENCY IN SECTION NOTES WWF WWF-SEE GENERAL NOTES WWF-SEE GEN. NOTES WELDED WIRE FABRIC W.W.F. UNINTELLIGENT SECTIONS UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH CHANGES (LINKS)

TYPE VS. INSTANCE TYPE PARAMETER WHEN THE NOTE - IS THE NOTE - IS ALWAYS THE NOTE WWF – SEE GEN. NOTES, IS ALWAYS, WWF – SEE GEN. NOTES **Elements that are never going to change throughout a project (or will change globally) are set up as type parameters. Meaning you must edit the type and change will apply to all instances of the component. INSTANCE PARAMETER WHEN PORTIONS OF THE NOTE NEED TO CHANGE 6”-18GA METAL STUD (600S162-43 OR EQUAL) @16” 8”-18GA METAL STUD (800S200-43 OR EQUAL) @16” **Elements that can change from one section to the next

TYPE VS. INSTANCE TYPE INSTANCE

HYBRID – TYPE W/ INSTANCE TYPE PARAMETER WITH INSTANCE OPTIONS FOR ELEMENTS THAT ALWAYS HAVE THE SAME FOUNDATIONAL CALLOUT, BUT HAVE MORE INFO. IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE DRAWINGS. 14K1 14K1 SP BEAM – SEE PLAN BEAM @ 5’-0” These properties are applied though the use of a prefix and suffix. **TAGS CAN ALSO BE CREATED FOR LINKED FILES. *KEY IS CREATING THE SHARED PARAMETER FILE SO THE TWO MODELS SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE. EXPORT SHARED PARAMETER FILE IS VERY USEFUL HERE.

EXPLAINING HOW SETTING UP THE FAMILY CREATE A TAG CREATE FOR EACH CATEGORY NEEDED I.E. DETAIL ITEMS, STRUCTURAL COLUMNS, STRUCTURAL FRAMING. ETC. NEW -> FAMILY -> TYPE OF TAG DETAIL ITEM TAG FLOOR TAG STRUCTURAL COLUMN TAGS DOOR TAGS WALL TAGS

EXPLANING HOW AFTER CREATING YOUR SHARED PARAMETER: INSERT A LABEL INTO THE FAMILY ADD THE SHARED PARAMETER FILE TO YOUR FAMILY IF A PREFIX/SUFFIX IS DESIRED ADD IT AS WELL VERTICAL ALIGNMENT OF THE LEADER DRAW TWO VERTICAL LINES CENTERED VERTICALLY ON THE LABEL TURN THE VISIBILITY OFF WIDTH OF TEXT PULL THE GRIP ON THE LABEL TO THE MAX WIDTH OF TEXT ALLOWED BEFORE IT RETURNS THE TEXT. STYLE SET FONT AND TEXT SIZE BY EDITING LABEL

EXPLAINING HOW ASSIGN THE SHARED PARAMETER TO THE CORRECT CATEGORY IN THE PROJECT TEMPLATE. SET THE PARAMETER TO INSTANCE. IF YOU WANT IT TO BE A TYPE PARAMETER CHANGE IN THE FAMILY. THIS WILL ALLOW IT TO ONLY AFFECT SPECIFIC FAMILIES.

EXPLAINING HOW Annotate → "Tag by Category" Quick KEY "TG" <−𝑅𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑑 After activating the tag make sure "horizontal' and "free end" are selected Select the “tags” button to check the loaded tag

Explaining How **IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE TAGS FOR THE SAME CATEGORY, YOU WILL NEED TO COME HERE TO CHANGE. FOR EXAMPLE: ON MY ROOF PLAN I WANT THE TAG TO GIVE ME BEAM SIZE (FAMILY TYPE), BUT IN THE SECTIONS I WANT IT TO GIVE ME “BEAM-SEE PLAN” (DETAIL ITEM TAG)

DRAWBACKS LESS FLEXIBILITY THAN TEXT NOTES NO WIDTH ADJUSTABILITY GRIP NO RIGHT/LEFT JUSTIFY REQUIRES UP-FRONT SET UP WORK

ADVANTAGES QUICK & EFFICIENT DETAILING CONTROL & CONSISTENCY IN ANNOTATION TEXT AMONG MULTIPLE USERS ACROSS MULTIPLE PROJECTS. EASY & QUICK CONTROL OF ARROW AND TEXT BOX ALIGNMENT EFFICIENT, DEPENDABLE, AND EASY CONTROL OF INFORMATION IN LINKED MODELS
