Inventors: People who make a difference

Inventors solve problems They look for new ways of doing things that make life easier for everyone.

Can you imagine a time when we didn’t have cellphones Can you imagine a time when we didn’t have cellphones? What about when we didn’t have any phones.

People could only communicate over long distances by using morse code, a series of dots and dash sounds. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone so that people could speak directly to eachother without having to tap out a code.

Once upon a time people had to work by candlelight It was very hard to read

A man named Thomas Edison had an idea. he tried and failed many times

he kept trying until he invented the first light bulb so now people could have daylight whenever they needed it.

He invented many things: the phonograph the stock market ticker and motion pictures

There was a time when we didn’t have computers There was a time when we didn’t have computers. People had to type all their documents and had to start over if they made one mistake.

It could take hours to do simple calculations. Two young men decided to make a computer that was easy to use and that everyone could own.
