Vietnam Protestors American citizens who protested against the Vietnam war. This was done sometimes peacefully, and sometimes violently. The American citizens couldn’t understand why Americans had to die for a tiny country half way around the world.

Guerrilla Warfare The wartime strategy where soldiers stage ambushes and build complex tunnels to hide in.

Ho Chi Minh The Communistic Vietnamese leader who organized and led the Viet Minh army. He fought against the French rulers in Vietnam and was responsible for the war between the Viet Min and the French in 1946. His desire was for Vietnam to rule itself and become communistic. Ho Chi Minh also received money from the Soviet Union and Communistic China.

Containment We Must Stop Communism from spreading Containment We Must Stop Communism from spreading!!!!” The act of non-communistic countries, such as the United States and France, trying to stop communism from spreading throughout Asia.

Viet Cong The Communist soldiers that staged suicide bombings and sneak attacks. These soldiers were known for guerrilla warfare strategies; the same strategies that Mao Zedong implemented.

Domino Theory The belief system that if one region, like Vietnam, became communistic the rest of the countries, or continent like Asia would too. This belief system started in the 1950’s and continued to exist into the 1980’s.
