Scale: Is it an accurate representation?
What is a scale? Scale is the ratio of the size of objects on a map compared to their size in the real world. 4 cm:1 km For example on a map with the scale.

Parts of a Map Title Legend Direction Scale

Map Scale Expressed as a ratio of unit on map to actual number of units on Earth. 1:100,000 inches = 1 inch on map is the equivalent of 100,000 inches in the real world The larger the second number, the smaller the map scale

THUS… A large-scale map displays a relatively small section of the Earth’s surface A small-scale map displays a relatively large section of the Earth’s surface

Remote Sensing Measuring and interpreting the Earth’s surface from far away Balloon Aircraft Satellite

Remote Sensing Satellite imaging often produces “false color” images
