The SES Story Beginning in 2008 The Phoenix arose again at this place. A new building was constructed in an area of Gordon County with a rich history of valuing and supporting education

Context By the numbers 685 Students 49 Certified Staff Members 11 Support Staff Members 11 Bus Drivers, 2 Office Staff, 1 Nurse, 4 Custodians, 7 Cafeteria Staff, After School Personnel

title I SES is a Title I school. Federal program providing additional support and monies to schools with a qualifying poverty rate. Title I monies are spent: Academic coaches to provide guidance and professional development for teachers to increase rigor in instruction. Purchase resources for parents: Math survival guides Math and literacy materials in parent resource room We are organized as a School Wide school under Title I so that we can make services available to all our students and their families.

Title I We participate by: Seeking input from families and other stakeholders on our programming, compact, school improvement plan, parent involvement plan Holding parent information meetings such as this annual meeting, Parent Academy nights, conferences in the spring and fall (or anytime needed/requested) Communicating with families via Shout Points, Facebook, website, newsletters, Bloomz/Dojo Participating in ongoing professional development for staff members

Title I SES is a Title I Rewards School for 2016 in the area of High Progress- based on 2015 indicators All teachers at SES are Highly Qualified in their areas of work as defined by the federal guidelines SES uses a variety of curriculum resources and instructional programs to meet the needs of each of our students

SES most recent score is 74.2%- for the 2015 school year Context CCRPI – Stands for College & Career Readiness Performance Index CCRPI is a comprehensive school improvement, accountability, and communication platform for all educational stakeholders that will promote college and career readiness for all Georgia public school students. Each school receives a score out of 100 points. SES most recent score is 74.2%- for the 2015 school year 2016 score not calculated yet

Context Assessments Only students in grades 3-5 in ELA and math will be calculated for CCRPI Student Learning Objectives- eliminated! Georgia Milestones Distinguished Learner, Proficient Learner, Developing Learner, and Beginning Learner

Context CCRPI Evolving and constantly changing target with percentages and components changing as we go. One component that we need family support for is attendance. SES improved 1.28% from 2015 to 2016 Compare to all Gordon County elementary schools with +.52%

Call for Improvement SES has a school improvement plan for the 2016-2017 school year. The school improvement plan is a “map” to guide our school to ensure all our students grow and improve their academic skills. The plan is available to view through the SES website, in the Parent Resource Room, or in the front office.

Call for Improvement We want parental input on Sonoraville’s School-wide plan, Parent involvement policy, Compact, School Improvement Plan, District Parent involvement policy The Parent Survey from spring 2016 was used to write the documents and to plan the use of Parent Involvement funds. Dragons TIME- we need more hours in every day! Finding purposeful ways to meet all the requirements to be a successful school while keeping students as the focus of all we do. Our initiatives have positives along with the work required to fulfill their goals. Improving our use of volunteers. Communication with families.
