Oct 2006 During the generation of the channel model MATLAB code, I became aware that we probably have more S-V parameters than we actually need. I refer to contribution 15-06-0297-03-003c (by Hirokazu Sawada et. al.) to illustrate my concern In the above graphic, I believe that the terms and (small Rician factor for each cluster) in the TSV model are “nice to have” but not necessary. Part of this is to simplify the code and part of this is just being pragmatic since we do not have these values for any of the CM anyways. Rick Roberts, Intel

doc.: IEEE 802.15-<doc#> <month year> doc.: IEEE 802.15-<doc#> Oct 2006 This term sets the absolute signal level in dBm. I think this is unnecessary for proposal evaluation and should be dropped from the channel model simulation. This term is actually generated as part of the S-V model and it is redundant to try to calculate what it is apriori. Just let the channel model do it for us. The graphic on the previous page shows nice monotonically decreasing rays. The S-V model generates the clusters as advertised but they are more random. An example is shown below (NLOS). Here we see 5 clusters are generated by the MATLAB tool, with the 3rd cluster being the strongest. Rick Roberts, Intel <author>, <company>

Oct 2006 Zooming in on the 1st cluster … … we can see that the cluster generated by the S-V model statistically defines the ray amplitude by the decay parameters γ and λ. There is no need to specify the ray amplitude using Δk. (Note: actually Δk is not a scalar but is rather a vector with one value for each cluster). Rick Roberts, Intel

Oct 2006 Proposal: 1. Define the S-V small scale model by the following parameters:     c r  K 2. Don’t use the parameters , Rick Roberts, Intel
