Presentation transcript:

Not Afraid to Fail I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. Michael Jordan

FAIL FIRST ATTEMPT IN LEARNING

Safe Place to Fail This is a safe place to fail Teacher support Family support Not on a high school transcript Ok to fail, but critical to grow What’s the lesson? What can I do differently? How can you improve?

Work Load An advanced student’s work load will be more than the average student. You should expect the following: daily homework in all classes. enhanced writing assignments. projects and assignments that are challenging. rigorous pace for content.

Grades Formatives (20%): Daily work Quizzes Practice Summatives (80%): Projects Tests Assesses mastery of the content and skills Retakes (2 first semester, 1 second semester) Grades-not the most important thing Is learning taking place?? That’s important!

Student Effort Student effort (not parents  ) Give them room to fail Growth from failure

I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work. Thomas Edison, inventor of the incandescent light bulb
