Knowing What You Are Trying to Assess (Validity and Reliability) Carefully Assessing Knowing What You Are Trying to Assess (Validity and Reliability)

Welcome to Your ‘Abilities’ profile

Abilities Your ‘World View.’ Where you feel the most secure in service. How you prefer to interact with others. How you prefer to get things done. In what environment you function the best. We are combining three sets of variables in order to establish a composite: Personality (4) Spiritual Gifts (16) Abilities (world view) 6

Why Do We Need To Assess? If you were born into a family of acrobats, you would develop into an acrobat at a very young age (intuitive). If you married into a family of acrobats, you would have to go through a process of assessment and training (you would feel unnatural as an acrobat). If you married into a family of acrobats, your children would develop into acrobats at a very young age. To begin a process in the middle will always feel artificial until the process matures.

Enterprising I have great facility with words, which I can put to effect use in selling and leading. I enjoy persuading others to my point of view and am impatient with work involving precision and long periods of intellectual concentration. I see myself as energetic, enthusiastic, adventurous, self-confident and dominant

Social I am social, responsible and concerned with the welfare of others. I express myself well and get along well with others. I like to be near the center of groups and prefer to solve problems by discussing them with others. I view myself as cheerful, friendly, popular, a high achiever, and a good leader.

Investigative I prefer to solve abstract problems and understand the physical world rather than acting upon the world. I enjoy complicated problems and intellectual challenges. I do not like structured situations, lots of rules or working around many people. I have unconventional values and attitudes and would like to be original and creative, especially in scientific areas. I would describe myself as analytical, curious, reserved, and independent.

Artistic I prefer unstructured situations where I can deal with problems through self-expression in an artistic medium. I prefer to work alone or with just a few others. I have a great need for individualistic expression and I am sensitive and emotional. I would describe myself as independent, original, unconventional, and expressive.

Realistic I am practical, active, and have good physical skills. I like to work outside and create things with my hands. I prefer to deal with things rather than ideas and people. Sometimes I have difficulty expressing my ideas and communicating my feelings to others. My political and economic ideas are fairly conventional. I would describe myself as rugged, robust, practical, and physically strong.

Conventional I prefer highly ordered activities, do not like to be a leader, and like working in a well-established chain of command. I like to know exactly what is expected of me and fell uncomfortable when I do not know the “rules.” I see myself as traditional, conventional, stable, well-controlled, and dependable.

Artistic: Bezalel Ex 31:1-11 31 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 "See, I have called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, 4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, 5 and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship.

6 And behold, I Myself have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are skillful I have put skill, that they may make all that I have commanded you: 7 the tent of meeting, and the ark of testimony, and the mercy seat upon it, and all the furniture of the tent, 8 the table also and its utensils, and the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, and the altar of incense, 9 the altar of burnt offering also with all its utensils, and the laver and its stand, 10 the woven garments as well, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, with which to carry on their priesthood; 11 the anointing oil also, and the fragrant incense for the holy place, they are to make them according to all that I have commanded you."

Enterprising Ex 32:30-35 30 And it came about on the next day that Moses said to the people, "You yourselves have committed a great sin; and now I am going up to the Lord , perhaps I can make atonement for your sin." 31 Then Moses returned to the Lord , and said, "Alas, this people has committed a great sin, and they have made a god of gold for themselves.

32 But now, if Thou wilt, forgive their sin — and if not, please blot me out from Thy book which Thou hast written!" 33 And the Lord said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book. 34 But go now, lead the people where I told you. Behold, My angel shall go before you; nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin." 35 Then the Lord smote the people, because of what they did with the calf which Aaron had made.

Social Ex 32:1-5 32 Now when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people assembled about Aaron, and said to him, "Come, make us a god who will go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him." 2 And Aaron said to them, "Tear off the gold rings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me." 3 Then all the people tore off the gold rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.

4 And he took this from their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, and made it into a molten calf; and they said, "This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt." 5 Now when Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation and said, "Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord ."

Realistic: Levites Ex 32:25-29 25 Now when Moses saw that the people were out of control — for Aaron had let them get out of control to be a derision among their enemies — 26 then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, "Whoever is for the Lord , come to me!" And all the sons of Levi gathered together to him (balanced emotions). 27 And he said to them, "Thus says the Lord , the God of Israel, 'Every man of you put his sword upon his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate in the camp, and kill every man his brother, and every man his friend, and every man his neighbor.'“ (Politically conventional)

28 So the sons of Levi did as Moses instructed, and about three thousand men of the people fell that day. 29 Then Moses said, "Dedicate yourselves today to the Lord — for every man has been against his son and against his brother — in order that He may bestow a blessing upon you today.“ (Physically Strong)

Conventional: Aaron’s Sons Ex 29:19-22 19 "Then you shall take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram. 20 And you shall slaughter the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear and on the lobes of his sons' right ears and on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet, and sprinkle the rest of the blood around on the altar.

21 Then you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments, and on his sons and on his sons' garments with him; so he and his garments shall be consecrated, as well as his sons and his sons' garments with him. 22 You shall also take the fat from the ram and the fat tail, and the fat that covers the entrails and the lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them and the right thigh (for it is a ram of ordination), Rules followed by all involved Activities are highly ordered

Ex 29:38-46 38 "Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two one year old lambs each day, continuously. 39 The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight; 40 and there shall be one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of beaten oil, and one-fourth of a hin of wine for a libation with one lamb. 41 And the other lamb you shall offer at twilight, and shall offer with it the same grain offering as the morning and the same libation, for a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the Lord .

Teach and train by being methodical and patient 42 It shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the doorway of the tent of meeting before the Lord , where I will meet with you, to speak to you there. 43 And I will meet there with the sons of Israel, and it shall be consecrated by My glory. 44 And I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to minister as priests to Me. 45 And I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God. 46 And they shall know that I am the Lord their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am the Lord their God. Teach and train by being methodical and patient
