Why did we choose this bridge? L Why did we choose this bridge? Our bridge is an original design. There is not an actual bridge in real life from where we took our idea. Our bridge is inspired by an unnamed bridge from garrettsbridges.com that was able to hold 553 pounds! Structure that provides a lot of support. Our design is similar to this bridge, not identical. The popsicle sticks are glued together at a certain distance and both designs include trapezoids.

How are they different? Unlike the unnamed bridge, our bridge: Does not include the popsicle sticks glued diagonally across the base as shown on the picture above. Our bridge is composed of two trapezoids and triangular shapes in order to make it stronger and provide a structure with even more support.

What type of bridge is it? L What type of bridge is it? It is not a specific type of bridge. Since it is an original design and does not exist in real life. It is very similar to a Truss bridge. Since it is the type of bridge whose main element is a truss. Truss A structure of connected elements that form triangular units.

Our experience What we learned: Learned how to plan, design, calculate, and construct a bridge in an efficient way. Used all the concepts that are implemented in this process. Explored how Geometry is applied in the real world and realized that we can actually use our knowledge for future purposes. We felt challenged, not only because of the limited kind of supplies we could only use to build the bridge, but also because of our decision to create an original design. But we had a lot of fun doing this project!

Rap Time! We made a bridge out of popsicle sticks, It took a lot of time and it was hard to fix, This was a very challenging project to make, And at first we were scared that our bridge would break! Nevertheless we had a lot of fun, And we were very happy when our bridge was done, And now that we have told you our experience as we built it, We hope that when we put the weight we still can say “We did it!” Now let us explain how it all went down, All the things we had to do so it wouldn’t touch the ground, To make it strong we used a lot of wood glue, The triangles you see were a great addition, too! These add support so that it doesn’t break, But they still make it flexible in case it bends, It doesn’t have colors but that’s ok, Because it’s a simple bridge and we like it this way! It’s an original design and it doesn’t exist, But if you look real close it is inspired by this, Except for this part that we decided to change, Also in real life it doesn’t have a name! And yet we can relate it to a Truss Bridge, That has a structure with triangles like the one we did, And without further a do let’s see how much it can hold Not for any price will this bridge of ours be sold!
