Benefits Orientation Life, LTD and Transition Assistance Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston Lay Benefits Office Congratulations on your new position! As a benefit-eligible employee, a variety of benefits are available to you through the Archdiocese of Boston Benefit Trusts. This presentation will provide you with basic plan information and options available to you as a new hire or newly benefit eligible employee.

Core Benefits Life Insurance & Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Long Term Disability (LTD) and Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Eligible employees are automatically enrolled on the first of the month following 1 year of continuous benefit eligible employment 1,000 hours per year Premiums are 100% paid for by your location Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in Life and Long-Term Disability Insurance, and the Transition Assistance Program, on the first of the month following one year of benefit eligible service at a participating location. Prior service as a benefit-eligible employee with an Archdiocese of Boston location may count toward the one-year waiting period. Please contact the Benefits Office for additional information. Premiums for these benefits are paid for 100% by your location.

Life Insurance and AD&D Coverage amount is 2x base annual salary Coverage amount reduces at age 65 and age 70 AD&D – Double indemnity if you pass away in an accident, and benefits for dismemberment Employee must designate a beneficiary through BAS/MyEnroll www.bostoncatholicbenefits.org/life Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage is provided by the Archdiocese Benefit Trusts to eligible employees at participating locations. The life insurance coverage amount is 2x your annual salary rounded up to the nearest thousand. Coverage amounts reduce for employees at age 65 and again at age 70. Depending on the amount of your coverage, you may also be required to pay taxes on the value of a portion of the life insurance benefit. Contact your payroll administrator for more information. You should designate a life insurance beneficiary when you first log in to MyEnroll, and you may update your beneficiary list at any time. We recommend that you designate at least one primary beneficiary, but you have the option to list multiple primary beneficiaries and contingent beneficiaries. Long-Term Disability (LTD) Benefits are payable after 6 months of disability Monthly income benefit of 60% of base pay (maximum of $5,000 per month) Benefit payments are taxable www.bostoncatholicbenefits.org/ltd Long-Term Disability coverage is provided by the Archdiocese Benefit Trusts to eligible employees at participating locations. Benefits are payable monthly after 6 months of disability at a rate of 60% of base pay. These benefits are taxable. If you cannot work due to injury or illness and think you will be unable to work for over six months, we recommend that you contact the Benefits Office around the fourth month of disability to begin the application process for LTD payments. Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Unemployment insurance administered by RCAB as a benefit paid to employees involuntarily terminated (except in cases of gross misconduct) 50% of base weekly wage, to a maximum adjusted annually to reflect the Massachusetts unemployment weekly benefit maximum Benefits are payable bi-weekly for a maximum duration of 30 calendar weeks Career Counseling Sessions available at no cost www.bostoncatholicbenefits.org/TAP The Transition Assistance Program, also known as TAP, is administered by the Archdiocese Human Resources Department for eligible employees at participating locations.  TAP is a form of private unemployment insurance provided for most employees who have been involuntarily terminated from their employment.  TAP payments are made on a biweekly basis at 50% of your base weekly wage in effect as of the last day of employment, up to a maximum of 30 weeks.  Payments are taxable, with a W2 issued at year end.  An initial application process and ongoing affidavits reflecting job search activity must be completed.  Career Counseling Sessions through a company in the Boston area are also be available at no cost.  More information is available on the TAP section of our Boston Catholic Benefits website.
