The U.S. & the War War erupts but the U.S. stays out of it. Why? Ethnic Diversity American “neutrality” Help both sides instead of staying out of it. US economy booms. Both sides resent the US for helping the other.

Blockades British Navy easily blockades German and Ottoman ports. German attempts to blockade but must use U-Boats. Sneak attack, no warning Death of civilians Sinking of the Lusitania turns neutral feelings and people against Germany.

U.S. Enters the War Germany uses unrestricted submarine warfare again. Zimmerman Telegram Germany wants Mexico to attack the U.S. Russian Revolution Democracy vs. Dictatorships April 6th, 1917 declares war on the Central Powers.

Mobilizing Selective Service Act – Draft soldiers Segregated Illiteracy Food Administration War Industries Board Govt. told factories what to produce War Labor Board Govt. settled labor disputes, needed all the workers. Liberty Bonds
