Poverty and Hunger Poverty is when people lack a certain amount of possessions or money, including social, economic and political elements. Hunger is lacking enough food for everyday life also known as malnutrition.

Statistics 46.7 million (14.8% of the population) people were in poverty in the USA. 15.5 (21.1%) children under 18 were in poverty in the USA. 4.6 million (10%) seniors 65+ are in poverty in the USA. Around 795 million people do not have proper nutrition (1 in 9 people). The majority of hunger in the world is in developing countries. Where 12.9% of the world is malnourished. One in every five kids in america are born into poverty

Solutions There is a solution for poverty, and world hunger. They are access to education, urban farming, and birth control education. Education is the biggest solution to abolish poverty and hunger because it helps take people out of poverty and gives them opportunities. Urban farming is effective because people can make their own food which many families in poverty can not because 1 out of every 4 people in poverty live in an urban environment with no farms. Birth control education will help keep economically poor people from having children before they can afford it.

Effects of Poverty and World Hunger World Hunger and Poverty can affect people physically because they could get diseases that could possibly kill them. It could affect them socially because they could be living on the streets and not have a home and proper education. This could affect them mentally because if they got an illness they wouldn’t have the mental health nor physical health to get through the sickness. It could affect them emotionally because they could go through depression and have stress from everything going on in their lives.
