BELL ACTIVITY Answer these questions in your journal. Be ready to share with the class. How many of you have heard about someone who “waited too late” to go to the doctor? What do you think that means? With which diseases could someone wait too long and not get the care needed to save their lives?

PRIMARY PREVENTION Primary prevention is the stage in which an individual eats nutritiously, exercise regularly, and avoid harmful substances such as tobacco.

SECONDARY CONTROL This stage is where an individual uses early detection methods such as medical exams and self-examinations.

TERTIARY This phase is when an individual is in the treatment stage.

WHERE ARE YOU? This activity we are going to see if we can distinguish between practices that are primary prevention, early detection, and treatment.

DO IT NOW! (ACTIVITY) Read the poem and discuss the questions in your group and be ready to report. Do It NOW PCH1.3.docx Why does the author of the poem believe procrastination is natural? When people experience symptoms, what are they hoping for? Whose help and advice should we seek if we notice a symptom?
